Shoes act as a barrier between your feet and the floor, so they actually make your feet weak and lazy. Wake your feet up by going barefoot to get the most out of your workouts.
Your ankles are mobile joints so you should be hitting them from various angles. Below is a walk series that you can do anywhere and you should start by using just your bodyweight before adding load.
Do the following exercises as a triset (back to back to back) for 3 total sets:
Walk 1 - Toe Walks
Walk 2 - Heel Walks
Walk 3 - Supination walks
