(v-necks are a must when you don't have a neck...)

We are approaching our first full-year of being online and what an epic year it's been.

The quality of people we now have the privilege of calling friends, partners, and customers still tugs at the heart strings when I take a second to think about it.

There is something special about the wellness community, particularly the one we now belong to. Their sense of purpose, selflessness, and commitment to others, are qualities that are becoming harder and harder to find.

The other qualities that make this group so special and perhaps most notable is their humor, vulnerability, and willingness to call bull-sh**. They speak about their personal experiences as coaches and as athletes from the heart with an unwavering sensibility.

It is a beautiful thing to know that this group of experts are always acting in the best interest of those whom they reach and work with. We like to consider what we do at Pedestal in the same scope as said experts.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality locally sourced product with the intention of improving the overall health and wellness of anyone who puts a pair on. We know people have recognized this mission and have committed their time and resources to supporting us, and for this, we will always be grateful.

That said, much like the customers and coaches whom support us, we consistently work towards improving our product and how we do business. We know that our incremental progress is a culmination of the day to day communication and interaction between ourselves and our community.

Pedestal is a reflection of the coaches, athletes, and customers we work with, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you for making us better and for always crushing.

    Hugs & Deadlifts,

    Brendan

    Functionally Irrefutable

    Functionally Irrefutable

Nowadays, the word "problem" and "fitness industry" are related much like the correlation between body fat percentage and shirtless selfies. Much of the problem stems from ignorance and ego.

We have found a problem in the training space that we are willing to attack. While our mission at Pedestal is ongoing and always an uphill battle, we truly believe that the paradigm will shift in our favor very soon.

What is this shift you are asking? It is a shift from trainers/health clubs/gyms that see their members/clients as merely a dollar sign to actual human beings that want to move/feel/look their best.

Before you start contemplating how hard of a task that is, I wanted to share some insight with you. It is actually quite easy to create this change and it starts with putting natural function first. Instead of being pimps for brands that do nothing other than put some change in our pockets, we must first ask if their concept is functionally irrefutable.

In order for a brand in the fitness industry to be functionally irrefutable it must get back to the basics of anatomy. In our most natural state, our bodies are also the strongest. Most of us were lucky enough to be born with everything we need to be the best version of ourself. Funny how that works, yet some brands will tell you differently because otherwise they would be out of business.

We have the support from some of the most decorated professionals in the industry. Decorated in that they understand what it really means to have the clients best interests in mind.

To be fully transparent, all we have done is reach out to individuals and ask for a review of our products. We don't pay them simply because the best in the industry would not actually take payment to review a product they truly believe in. In fact  they are happy to support however they can. Why? Because both Brendan and I can sleep easy when we put our head down to rest at night. This is because we know full on that we provide products that only benefit the long term health of the end user.

    We are functionally irrefutable.

    With Love,

    Mike

"You're starting a business? You know it's so much cheaper if you go overseas?" If I told you the amount of times we've heard this same song and dance it would make your head spin. As someone who is always open to learning I really do appreciate people looking out for our cost structure as it shows that they genuinely do care and want the business to succeed. In this blog I wanted to share the reasons why I chose to do business here in America.

Relationship, relationship, relationship. How could you trust someone you've never met? Would someone be more or less likely to meet a deadline or communicate openly with you if you had shared food and stories with one another? We now know Nate's favorite drink (Tito's), that he does in fact know how to eat a lobster (sent him some lobsters from Maine), and that his secretary Lori's favorite fruit is watermelon while she has a soft spot for caramel and fudge. Some of our conversations with Nate include fantasy football talk, which is something I probably wouldn't do with a factory overseas.

Another facet of staying in the U.S. is quality control and knowing that in the end the factory is only three hours away and that there will be familiar faces there when I show up. It is also humbling to know that everyone in the factory has a job because of other companies who have trusted their process and provided them with ample work to do.

Relationships we have developed, experiences we have had, people we have met, proximity, and familiarity are all worth it to us at Pedestal Footwear.
